At KZO, melting takes place in two shaft furnaces, known as cupolas. Their output is 8 tons per hour, and the temperature they achieve through coke combustion exceeds 1500 degrees Celsius. The charge enters the furnace through a charging window located at the top. Melting occurs in the hearth, equipped with tuyeres that supply hot air enriched with oxygen.
The molten iron flows through a tapping trough into a ladle, from which it is distributed to all casting lines. This is done using a cart with a turntable.
