They maintained success with albums such as Blue Is the Colour (1996) and Quench (1998).
After Abbott’s departure in 2000, the group continued with new vocalist Alison Wheeler.
Their final studio album, Superbi, was released in 2006.
The band split in 2007, citing “musical similarities” as the reason.
Following their breakup, some members continued performing under The South, while Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott later reunited for new musical projects.
