In this video we'll compare, side by side, two amazing reissues of sports watches from the 1970s. It's no secret that one of the biggest trends in recent years from the entry level to super high end, has been Gerald Genta inspired watches with integrated bracelets and retro futurist aesthetics, kicked off by the Genta designed Audemars Piguet Royal Oak in 1972. So, today I review what is unquestionably the most successful watch in this style—the Tissot PRX Powermatic (35 mm)—against my personal favorite—the Nivada Grenchen F77 (37mm)—in order to fully analyze the positives, negatives, design evolution, and historical context. Join me for a comparative review of two similar but vastly different watches, and find out why in my opinion, in this David and Goliath juxtaposition, one is the better, Swiss made, affordable alternative.
