Equipment: The Photon toy system used the same equipment that the Photon indoor commercial system used. The player wore a battery pack, a helmet, a chest pack that held sensors, and of course the Photon phaser. All in all the equipment weighed about 13 pounds.
A Photon package came with a “Photon Phaser” gun, a “Photon Warrior Helmet”, a “Computerized Photon Target” that you could shoot as a single player and for competitions, and a “Photon Player ID Card” in which the player could create his own Photon ID.
History: Photon was not only a laser tag toy brand; it was also sold as a commercial system for laser tag arena operators, the first arena-style laser tag ever created. When the commercial version of Photon was introduced there was a large craze over it, so George Carter joined with Entertech to create a Photon toy laser tag system to go along with the indoor arena version.
The Photon toy brand came out just a couple months before World of Wonder’s Lazer Tag brand, Lazer Tag had its own crazer going when it was introduced, so Lazer Tag had more success in the toy industry then Photon did. The Photon laser tag toys ceased being produced when the commercial arena version of Photon did the same thing."
