Genelec 8010A and Audioengine A2+ are two speakers simialar in size and the level of sound quality but slightly different in the execution and, more importantly, price. Audioengine is a lot cheaper than Genelec and to my eyes more stylish, it also has USB DAC built in which Genelec lacks. Genelec, on the other hand has tone controls that will help adjust its sound, very sturdy metal cabinets and high quality antivibration stands that allow user to angle the speakers at his ears.
Regarding the sound, both Audioengine and Genelec exhibit detailed and focused sound across the range. Both do not try to lie that they can pump lots of bass so if You are after that looks elsewhere (iLoud Micro Monitor may interest You;). Tone wise Audioengine has more pronounced upper midrange hence sounds brighter overall, while Genelec seem to be slightly more laid back. If You are after high SPL than You will like Genelec more but considering the difference in price, for music listetning, A2+ is more reasonable choice IMO.
