This cover was requested by my good friend Floyd who supported my new album Kickstarter campaign. I wanted to make it sound really special and dramatically different from the original so I decided to turn it into a slow gentle piano ballad and add more atmospheric depth with lap steel. We recorded the song live at Annette Studios in Toronto - a unique space with a gorgeous Steinway and somewhat eerie history. The ambient lap steel sound was added in post production by G. Mark Weston - sounds so mysterious and otherworldly... thank you Mark! Many thanks to Igor Petrov for the cinematic footage and to Vlad Avy for the great sound. And of course thank you Floyd for challenging me with this classic song - it was such a pleasure to work on! Hope you will enjoy our noir atmospheric version. 🖤
