Mount Kanlaon, located on the Philippine island of Negros, erupted in a dramatic explosion on the morning of April 8. The volcanic activity, which began early in the day, caused major concern as ash clouds rose up to 4 kilometers into the sky. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) declared Alert Level 3, warning of the potential for even stronger eruptions. Pyroclastic flows, toxic gases, and ashfall accompanied the event, posing a serious risk to nearby communities.
