1. SOUNDBITE (English) Dua Lipa, Recording Artist:
"I really enjoyed it. I had such a great time. I also did, um, a movie called 'Argyle,' which comes out February 2nd, which I'm very excited about. Loved the experience. Um, at the moment music is my top priority. I've got an album coming out this year, so we'll see. But who knows? I love it and it was fun and uh, but music, music, music first."
2. SOUNDBITE (English) Sheryl Lee Ralph, Actor:
"There are very few shows on linear TV right now. In fact, at another award show, we're the only linear TV show nominated. So it's wonderful to know that there is actually free TV. Great show that you can actually watch without having to pay for it in a much bigger way. So I'm, I'm very happy that 'Abbott Elementary' is the show that people are watching around the world."
3. SOUNDBITE (English) Nicolas Cage, Actor:
"I was very proud. I was proud of my brothers and sisters and the Screen Actors Guild. Um, I though I feel that we were all a beacon for other industries, that if you support each other and you stand together, you can get the changes you need. I was, I'm very thankful to my my actor brothers and sisters."
4. SOUNDBITE (English) Ronald Gladden, Actor:
"It's almost in disbelief, you know, like, I never would have guessed that people would have watched it, let alone given it award recognition. So, like, I mean, at this point, I'm kind of just waiting for somebody to pinch me to wake up, you know?"

STORYLINE:
Stars of film and TV gathered on the Golden Globes red carpet Sunday at the high-profile kick-off of Hollywood's 2024 awards season.

Nicholas Cage spoke outside the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California about supporting the recent actor's strike, while Dua Lipa revealed she is still holding music as her first priority.

Nominees at the 81st edition of the Globes include Margot Robbie, Bradley Cooper, Leonardo DiCaprio, Emma Stone, Jennifer Lawrence, Matt Damon and Timothee Chalamet.

Presenters include Amanda Seyfried, Angela Bassett, Michelle Yeoh, Will Ferrell, America Ferrera, Florence Pugh, Issa Rae and Oprah Winfrey.

Last summer's "Barbenheimer" box office phenomenon dominated Globes nominations.

“Barbie” led all nominees with nine nods, including recognition for Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.

Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer" scored eight nominations, including for nods for stars Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr. and Emily Blunt.

In TV categories, HBO’s “Succession” and Netflix’s “The Crown” dominated with multiple nominations.

The Globes were originally handed out by the nonprofit Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which faced controversy for its lack of diversity and numerous ethics scandals.

The HFPA has been dissolved and the awards are now controlled by a for-profit company whose assets include Hollywood media heavyweights like Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, Billboard and Deadline.

Jo Koy was hosting the Globes, airing live on CBS and streaming on Paramount+. It's the comedian and actor's first major hosting gig.
