His performance at Edinburgh’s Playhouse Theatre, the first solo concert he had given in a venue of this size, remains one of the stand-outs of his career. For possibly the first time ever, Elton delivers his most rocking hit to date on just the piano. This, the evening’s closing number, shows an artist in full command of the audience and his talents, before climbing aboard the piano to further urge the 3,000 ecstatic Scots into a frenzy.
