You're on your way back earthbound from another long haul way out on the outer systems. Cargo holds are filled with precious soon-to-be paychecks. Morale is high. You pickup an incoming transmission from the cold void beyond. Sounds like a distress call. The protocol is clear, yet you hesitate...Feels like it's been a while since I did something like this. Between juggling a couple of yet unannounced projects and the souls style album, it really felt nice to just sit back, unwind, switch gears and go with some deep space horror stuff. Dark, noisy, unsettling, some sections legit are making my skin crawl and I made it.
This is by far the heaviest and the most effects-dense ableton project I've done recently, the 8 minutes of it were rendering for hours. Dozens of tracks, groups of groups of groups, 3-way parallel fx stacking, lagging and crashing and all the good stuff. Lots of gnarly synthesized noises, everything and everywhere is automated at all times, a whole bunch of cool sound design tricks I found that Imma keep for later. Took longer than I expected, but very happy with how it's came out.
