Get the MS-60 here:
I recently bought the JA-60CC in Seafoam Green, and love it – it’s a simple but amazingly fun gateway guitar into the world of offsets. I also happen to own an MS-60, which I bought super-cheap (and well-used) a couple of years back.
These two guitars offer an experience not unlike the Fender Jazzmaster and Mustang models they’re based on, but for a fraction of the price. So, if you’re wondering which one might be best for you to take your first step into the world of offsets, or if you just want to hear about the differences between the two, then you’re in the right place.
In the video, I go through the specs and features of the two guitars, and highlight the main differences – which happen to be the pickups (Jazzmaster-style on the JA-60CC, and Mustang-esque vintage single coils on the MS-60), the bridges (fixed on the JA-60CC, while the MS-60 has a vibrato system), and the scale length (25.5” and 24” respectively!).
Then, it’s time to test the two guitars in as many different genres and styles as I can: that means everything from country, folk and indie, to pop, rock, punk, metal, and more. By the end, we should know if these guitars are genuine alternatives to Fender and Squier offsets, and hopefully you’ll know which one is more your cup of tea!

My setup was as follows: I ran the guitars into my Hughes & Kettner Black Spirit 200 head, also using my Greer Lightspeed for the overdrive and my Revv G3 for the heavy distortion sounds. The amp went from the Red Box DI straight into my Focusrite Scarlett 2i4, which went into Logic Pro X. That's it. No post-processing on the sounds was done.
Here’s some links to those bits of gear:
