General Tso’s Chicken Sandwich Recipe

Let's make this delicious General Tso Chicken Sandwich. 

1. Make the Sauce
Start by adding soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sweet chili sauce, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, fresh ginger, and fresh minced garlic to a pan over medium-low heat. 

Whisk well until it starts to simmer, then mix equal parts corn starch and water to make a slurry and pour that into the sauce to thicken. 

Remove from the heat and set aside. 

2. Make the Chicken
Add chicken thighs to a large bowl along with flour, cornstarch, a couple of eggs, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Mix until the chicken is well-coated. 

Heat oil to 350º and drop in the chicken. Cook for 4-5 minutes. 

3. Make the Slaw
Add sliced raw broccoli, cucumbers, scallions, and red onion to a bowl. Top with salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, rice vinegar, sesame seeds, and a drizzle of neutral oil. 

Mix well and set aside. 

4. Assemble the Sandwich
Right out of the fryer, add your chicken to your pan of sauce and coat it well. 

Slice a baguette in half and add some fresh bib lettuce to the bottom before topping with your chicken and a sprinkle of sesame seeds. 

Top with your fresh homemade slaw, and spoon over more of your General Tso sauce before topping with the other half of your baguette. 


The way I see it, sandwiches shouldn't be half-assed, especially when there are really easy ways to go all out.
