In this new episode of our Electronic Beats TV Tech Talk series we visited the iconic German duo Fjaak’s studio for a walk through of their extensive gear collection and to discuss their live jam approach to production. Throughout the past decade, Fjaak have grown to become widely praised for their hard hitting, dynamic techno, breaks and electro cuts, making their initial mark via releases on Modeselektor’s now defunct 50 Weapons and Monkeytown Records, before launching their own SPANDAU20 and self-titled imprints. In this video we find out which specific pieces of gear lay the foundations for the Fjaak sound, both past and present, and discover how they manage to join the dots between a vast array of drum machines, synths, sequencers, samplers and effects units in order to create a fun and playful environment to jam in.
