This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid. This all-new Tucson Hybrid is longer, wider and taller than the outgoing model making it a very roomy alternative to buying a Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. Powering the Hyundai Tucson compact utility is a 1.6L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with a 6 speed automatic paired with a 1.49 kWh battery pack and a 44.2 kW electric motor. Total output is 226 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. This Tucson Hybrid is AWD only. The base gas model has a
2.5L 4-cylinder engine with an 8 speed automatic transmission, 191 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque. Our test model is called the Ultimate Hybrid and it comes with a 10.25” touchscreen, driver’s seat memory, Bose stereo system. LED premium projector type headlights, 19” alloy wheels, pedestrian, cyclist turning detection, blind view and surround view monitor, remote parking assist. Standard safety features include forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane following assist, lane keeping assist, driver attention warning, safe exit warning blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert and 6 airbags. The Tucson Hybrid is wider, longer and taller than the previous model. It is 15mm taller and wider than the outgoing model. Its overall length is 5.9 inches longer and the wheel base is 3.5 inches longer. The new Santa Fe is bigger. It is 2.6 inches taller, 1.4 inches wider, 6 inches longer and the wheel base is 10mm longer. The Tucson has a distinct and sharp looking exterior with angular body panels and a front radiator grille with dark chrome accents giving this SUV an aggressive look.
