The darkest secrets often take root in seemingly harmless children's tales. Ye walk not alone in the woods, petals. Ok, this one is different. Probably my favorite of recent works.
A slight twist on the usual workflow, this time around I decided to build the core of the track out of organic home recorded sounds. There's belly pat percussion, mouth noises, snarls, wooden bead claps, whistling (albeit unrecognizable), doors creaking, branches twisting, cat purrs and scratches - the whole kitchen sink.
Layered with some ethnic folk instruments, out the wack articulations, weird bends, key changes, tempo and time signature shifts to create a really dizzying and horrifying atmosphere that grips your throat and drags you down to the pits of terror and panic. Like I said, this is one of my best scores yet.
