When the concept of the AES Confederation was first announced in 2023, it felt like some far away dream. But now, not only has it been established, the Alliance of the Sahel is in simple words “flourishing”. It’s just been almost a year since the first summit was held in June 2024, but anyone with eyes can see the tremendous progress that has been made. And the good news keeps coming. Just recently, the three countries announced that the new bloc has established its own bank with an initial capital of 820 million dollars. Please where are those people who said that Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso will not survive under military rule? Where are those who have continuously criticized the military leaders of these blocs? The fact is that anyone with eyes can see that gradually the AES is making progress. That is why in today’s video, we will analyze everything you need to know about this new bank and its implications.

When the AES leaders first announced the concept of the confederation, the idea had mixed reactions. Some analysts like us, believed that the confederation was a welcome development and that by pooling their resources together, Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger will be able to reduce individual reliance on foreign countries and tackle the security challenge with one front. But, there were some others like security expert Adib Saani who believe that nothing good will come out of the alliance. According to Saani, "It would be very difficult for the new confederation to achieve any results, because these countries are already reeling under pressure from terrorist groups," He added that the alliance does not have the infrastructure to deal with the security situation. But look how far the alliance has come.
