Following a raid in 1988, Leeds pirate station Music City Radio (MCR) decided to return even bigger. They did this by adding a second transmitter on 104.9 for Bradford. This new service started on Monday 8th August 1988, and was not a relay but a completely new service. On the 1st October this new service changed its name to Paradise City Radio (PCR).Paradise FM Playlist:
The new station carried on much like it’s original sister station with a format of soul, dance and reggae music. At first, broadcasts were mostly heard at weekends, but Paradise later began broadcasting throughout the week. The raids soon started and there were a number of court cases, but the station carried on.
PCR had a nightly 2 hour Asian programme, but as 1989 progressed, there were other Asian stations on 24/7. PCR thought they were losing listeners and advertisers to these new stations, so they decided to expand their Asian show to a station in its own right. Asian Paradise Radio (APR) was first heard in July 1989 and used 105.5 FM.
PCR continued to broadcast through the 90s while APR outlived PCR by several years.

Renegade Radio plays a diversity of sounds, from Acid House, Old Skool Hardcore & Rave, to Breakbeat Jungle Drum & Bass, Garage, House, Techno and even 1980s pop.
