Her decision to strip the Munchkins of their rights just to keep Boq around is ruthless. If Nessa had the opportunity to play the Wizard's game, like Elphaba did, she’d probably go all in. Her wickedness isn’t about Elphaba’s green skin or their family dynamics—it’s her upbringing. Nessa was coddled so much that she never developed the emotional maturity to handle power responsibly. And when things fell apart, she deflected blame entirely, like in her iconic meltdown blaming Elphaba while ignoring her own actions. I love how the story gives her regret without real accountability, mirroring real-life narcissism. I hope the upcoming movie keeps this complexity intact. Nessa’s bad behavior isn’t tied to her disability—it’s her ego. Her belief that her legs, not her oppression of the Munchkins, cost her Boq reveals her warped priorities. This layered storytelling is why I love Wicked!
