On 5 May 1985, ITN's Anthony Carthew presented 'The Prince and Princess of Wales in Italy'. The special extended documentary covered the Royal couple's two-week trip around Italy, including stops in Rome, Milan, Sicily, Venice, and many places in between. Highlights of the programme include the pair's visit to Vatican City, where they were received by Pope John Paul II, and the interview given by the Prince and Princess of Wales onboard Royal Yacht Britannia in Venice, in which Diana gave a message of thanks in Italian.
