Let’s take a look at the skin
and the 3 layers within
With this picture drawn to
study anatomy so let's begin

The first layer you’ll see
is the outer skin that's on me
it is called the Epidermis
Which are the skins surface everywhere
that I be

The 2nd layer shown here
Is called the Dermis just so we’re clear
It’s a thick layer of living tissue
full of cool stuff soon I’ll share

The 3rd layer’s the Hypodermis
The innermost and thickest skin
It’s a fat insulation and padding for your body to keep heat in

I’m your skin
protected by Keratin
I help control your core temperature
And my colors caused by the pigment Melanin

Let's take a deeper look at the layers
I just introduced to you
And find out the important jobs
they play and all that they do

The Epidermis is the first layer
And is waterproof as well
mostly made up of Squamous Cells
Which are flat and scale-like swell

Under that, we have these round cells
they are called Basal Cells
Then Melanocytes that produce
Melanin
Which Determines the color of your skin

Then there's the Dermis
The lower inner layer of skin
it plays an important role
Of the three layers, we discuss within

It contains Blood and Lymph Vessels
That carry cells that fight infection and disease
And Glands that produce sweat
Which help regulate the body temperature you need

The Pores also secret Sebum Oil
so your skin doesn’t dry out
And Hair Follicles that make and hold your hair
which you need without a doubt

This is Hypodermis
Which connects your skin to Muscle and Organs
It’s main functions to store Fat
And protect you from an impact on the skin

The Integumentary System
is what I’m a part of as skin
Which includes
skin, hair, Nails, and Exocrine Glands
from the body, you live in

Please Take care of your skin
And of your body every day
You only have one body
So keep its systems healthy
