(Soldiers are not expendable, they are not only numbers, although in History they have been considered as such). The Battle of the Somme (1/7 - 18/11/1916): British Empire & French Third Republic against German Empire. It is one of the deadiest battles in human history. On the first day of the battle (which depicted in these scenes) the British Army suffered 57.470 casualties.
