Neurocysticercosis (NCC) is a parasitic infection of the central nervous system caused by the larval stage of Taenia solium, the pork tapeworm. It occurs when humans ingest eggs of the parasite, typically through contaminated food, water, or poor hygiene. These eggs develop into larvae (cysticerci), which can lodge in the brain, spinal cord, or meninges, leading to neurological symptoms.
