This is an excerpt from a #dawless #jam #session that I recorded while testing out my voice. As a nation, we all need to test out our voice and stand up for ourselves and our brothers and sisters. It is sickening that people of color are still being lynched in 2020, and it took video evidence and public outcry for the justice system to even begin to move on the case.
There is a terrible imbalance here that cannot be ignored. These are the types of problems that activists in the 1960s marched on Washington for. We have a system that encourages violence and racism in almost every aspect, just take a look at the AstroTurfed protests featuring assault rifles regarding reopening businesses in several states. These white militants are allowed to storm a government building armed to the teeth with no consequence, but a black man cannot even go for a jog without fearing for his life.
This is the unbalanced nation hundreds of millions of us live in. Donald Trump will tweet “Get that son of a bitch off the field right now, he’s fired. He’s fired!” When Colin Kaepernick kneels during the National Anthem to protest police brutality before a football game. But when militants storm government buildings carrying automatic rifles, Trump responds by tweeting "The Governor of Michigan should give a little, and put out the fire," Trump tweeted. "These are very good people, but they are angry. They want their lives back again, safely! See them, talk to them, make a deal." The contrast is clear, and isn’t just black and white....it’s wrong and right....this is not anywhere close to making America Great. We need to test our voice and continue the civil rights movement, so that all of us are able to live life without fear of senseless acts of violence. #runwithmaud
