Richard Bingy Brown talks in depth about Bradford's Frontline in Manningham and also his involvement in running the Young Lions Cafe, his involvement in setting up Bradford's first ethnic pirate radio station - 'Paradise Radio' (PCR), his time as a member of Bradford's original foundation Reggae sound system - 'Scorcher', his music producing, his Reggae artist management, his time as a nightclub owner, his time as an author and publisher of two books - as well as his first-hand knowledge of the incidents that caused a race riot and an attack on the Young Lions Cafe on 14 July 2000 - where Afro Caribbean people were pursued by a 100-strong mob and a Jamaican student - Dexter Coleman (RIP) was murdered.....
Victor Wedderburn talks in depth about his memories of Bradford's Frontline in Manningham and his important photography of the Frontline in the mid-1980's - where a career-change as a photographer after being made redundant from his previous job - meant that he was able to photograph and document Bradford's Afro Caribbean community in its heyday in Manningham and provide a crucial archive of the community for posterity.....
The hostility towards the Afro Caribbean community in Manningham, the dispersion of the Afro-Caribbean community out of Manningham, the eventual closure of nearly all of the area's Black clubs, Black exclusion & Police / City Council racism are also explored in this ground-breaking interview.....
The interviewees are also asked whether Bradford's Afro-Caribbean community should be excited about & celebrating Bradford recently winning the title of 'UK City of Culture 2025' .....
