In this episode, we take you behind the scenes of how waterworks fittings are made, with a special focus on fire hydrants. These essential devices not only help firefighters during emergencies but also play a role in maintaining water pressure and air flow in the municipal water system. To learn more about their production, we visit the AKWA Industrial Fittings Production Plant in Gniezno—a pioneering company in Poland, known for introducing the first water consumption monitoring hydrant to the market.

The journey begins with the casting process, where molten iron is shaped into the necessary components. We observe how 500 kg of materials are melted in cupola furnaces, reaching optimal temperatures with the help of coke and oxygen-rich air. The molten iron is then molded, cooled, and prepared for further processing.

Next, we explore the precision machining of these components. Automated lathes and milling machines ensure each piece is crafted to perfection, with workers overseeing quality control. We also see how these parts are painted, using powder coating methods, and tested for durability and quality.

Finally, we visit the assembly line where hydrants and associated fittings are assembled, tested under high pressure, and certified for safety and hygiene. AKWA's products, recognized for their quality through ISO 9001 and GSK certifications, ensure the reliable operation of water networks across Poland.
