Learn these two must-know major scale patterns. They work on guitar and bass, but in this lesson we’ll put them together into an epic 2-octave scale run in one position on the 6-string bass! Gotta love that 6-string.

📝 LESSON TOPICS:
♪ Primary scale pattern for the major scale - this is the one you might already know. It starts with finger 2 (or 1) and takes 3 strings to complete.
♪ A secondary scale pattern for the major scale. It’s the same set of notes but with different frets and fingering. It starts with finger 4 and takes 4 strings to complete.
♪ The concept of the position shift - a slick method of making small moves up and down the bass neck without committing to a full position change.
♪ Finally, we’ll learn to connect the 2 patterns in 2 different ways. This gives us a 2-octave major scale pattern, all in a single position!

🧑 ABOUT ME
My name is Alex, and my passion is teaching music online. I’m a bass player and composer by training and trade, but what I really love to do is teach. I make my living teaching private lessons on Bass, Guitar, Piano, and Ukulele. My favorite thing to teach is theory - helping the students understand the “why” behind the music and empowering them to make better and more informed musical choices. I’m very adamant about teaching technique. This is how you gain power and control over your instrument and ultimately raise the ceiling on where your limits are and where they will be in the future.
I appreciate you participating in learning music with me, either for free through my videos or in private lessons in my virtual studio. Players of all abilities and backgrounds are welcome! There’s no music lesson I don’t love.
