Body of Bangladesh sailor killed in missile attack in Ukraine arrives home

The body of Hadisur Rahman, an engineer of a Bangladeshi ship who was killed on March 3 in a missile attack on the Bangladeshi vessel stranded at a Ukrainian port, reached Bangladesh on Monday.
A flight of Turkish Airlines carrying the body landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at about 12:30pm and his family members took the body to their village Hosnabad Kadamtola under Betagi upazila in Barguna for burial.
Hadisur’s parents broke into tears after being notified about landing the body in Dhaka.
Hadisur is one of the 29 Bangladeshis who were stranded on the ship ‘Banglar Samriddhi’ owned by the Bangladesh Shipping Corporation. The ship had been stranded at Olvia port in Ukraine since February 23, following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
On March 3, the ship came under a missile attack, but it could not be confirmed as of now who was behind the attack. All crew members and the body of Hadisur were rescued from the ship the following day.
The 28 surviving crew members of the Bangladeshi ship arrived in Dhaka on March 9.
