If you ever spot a white, rope-like thing hanging from a bear’s backside—it's not normal and it's a sign the bear’s life is in serious danger. This horrifying sight is caused by a tapeworm, a deadly parasite that bears accidentally ingest when they eat raw fish infected with tapeworm eggs. Once inside, the eggs hatch and the worms can grow up to 30 to 40 feet long, feeding off the bear’s nutrients.
