The vein walls and valves weaken, causing blood to flow backwards and pool, leading to swollen, twisted, and bulging veins that often appear blue or purple beneath the skin—most commonly in the legs. Over time, poor blood flow can cause skin discoloration, dryness, and, in severe cases, ulcers or sores that heal poorly. Rarely, they may bleed if injured or increase the risk of deep vein thrombosis, a serious blood clot deep in the leg. Chronic venous insufficiency, the underlying issue, can worsen over time if left untreated. #varicoseveins #health #anatomy #3d #animation
