As I gear up for my annual State of the Collection video, I've been thinking a lot about my watch collecting goals for 2023. In today's video, filmed in New York City, I discuss some of those goals including why the Insight Micro-rotor by Romain Gauthier is still my long-term grail watch. I also unbox a new, vintage-inspired Accutron Legacy based on the ref. 261 from the 1970s, as part of my search for something a little more playful, compared to the more traditional and iconic watches I own and love. This video also coincides with a recent need to send my Rolex Explorer in for a full service, which has me questioning the expensive upkeep of owning multiple Rolex watches. And following an excellent video by Russell, The Mad Watch Collector, titled "Why I Won't Buy Another Rolex," I share my thoughts on the brand and explain why I too am not planning to buy any more Rolex watches.
