'The Four Tops' are a group of four friends formed in 1953, and they are one of the iconic artists of Motown Records. This group distinguished themselves from other male groups by utilizing their unique baritone vocals, and Stubbs' emotional lead vocals garnered much love. In the 1970s, as Motown changed and the company decided to move from Detroit, Michigan to Los Angeles, California, the Four Tops chose to stay in their hometown Detroit. The group maintained the Same Lineup for 44 years, strengthening their musical bond. After the death of Lawrence Payton in 1997, the group temporarily performed as a trio but restored their quartet lineup by recruiting former Temptations member Theo Peoples in 1998. They continued to tour and perform actively until Stubbs passed away from cancer in 2008, maintaining their connection with fans. The Four Tops' music continues to influence many people and is remembered as an important part of the Motown sound.
