This is part four of playing percussion in an improvised theme. In the first episode I explained a few different categories I will be going over
1. The improvised theme; where the percussion improvises as a lead instrument on top of a drum set groove
2. Rhythmic Groove or loop theme; playing a consistent pattern syncopating with the drum set.
3. Multi-percussion theme; playing different instruments as opposed to focusing on one at a time.
Improvisation can obviously be done in all cases however in the improvised theme I mainly am approaching an idea of playing the percussion as a solo or lead style that drops in and out adding tension to the groove/arrangement
Now in this episode we add timbales and cowbells.
