What can I say? I have a penchant for the wilder side of guitar sounds...tones that are lively, unpredictable, and expressive. In Ye Olde Tymes of the guitar, a guitarist would likely be turning up a 50 or 100 watt amp loud enough that playing would become a battle of dynamics, volume, and feedback wrangling. The guitar becomes a living, writhing thing! In our modern times, we rarely get to play with sheer volume, so ingenuity is required to create similarly sinuous sounds.Enter this particular effect combination: an extreme envelope following filter running into an extreme fuzz...in this case I am using a Subdecay Prometheus Deluxe and a Trombetta Tornita. In this video I’ll explain how I set up this tone and how I adapt my playing technique to wrangle the maximum amount of expression out of it.
