Get the Duality here:
Coming in at €99, the Duality is about as cheap as you’ll get for a pedal that gives you multiple delay and reverb sounds in one box. You get three of each here: Studio (i.e. room), Church and Plate reverbs, and Analog, Real, and Tape flavors of delay. (I originally assumed the Real mode was a digital delay, but Thomann have since updated their website to state that it’s a ‘Space Delay’.) You can run the two sides together, stacking them either delay into reverb or reverb into delay, or you can play with one side at a time.
For a pedal of this type, the Duality is refreshingly simple to control. The Delay side of the pedal gives you Time, Feedback and Level controls, while the Reverb side offers Decay, Tone and Mix knobs. There’s no tap tempo for the delay, and the Duality is strictly Mono only – so if you’re after stereo effects, you’ll need to look elsewhere.
So, for this price, that’s a lot of tones on offer… but do they sound any good? That’s what we’re finding out in this video. Using my Epiphone Les Paul, I test the Duality’s six modes out in as many different musical styles as possible to see how versatile it truly is. We’ll play through the reverb and delay modes separately, as well as the stacking the two together, and at the end I do a nice ambient loop where I get to twist all the knobs around and really see what extremes the Duality will go!

My setup was as follows: I ran the Duality straight into the BluGuitar AMP1 Mercury Edition amplifier. That went from the amp’s Recording Out straight into my Focusrite Scarlett 2i4, which went into Logic Pro X. That’s it. No post-processing on the sounds was done. Oh, and I used my Boss RC-10 to play the loops.
Here’s some links to those bits of gear:
