With everyone focused on wanting to see Jackie and Shadow come back after the fireworks scared them away 2 nights ago, they must have heard you…Jackie made a 10-minute visit to the nest this evening and this time she brought a stick with her. Before she even set the stick down, she called out loudly, announcing where she was. Then she searched all around the area, seeming to be looking for Shadow. After checking everything out in the nest she hopped onto the back porch to scan every part of the neighborhood.
Still not seeing what she was looking for, she called out again. This time, he answered from somewhere nearby. As soon as she heard him, she called back to him as she flew off to join him…and the two of them had a long, happy discussion.
It’s great to have them back and know they are safe after they flew off their roost tree in the middle of new year’s eve night—even though eagles see very well in the day, they do not see well at night, so it can be dangerous for them to be flying around at night, especially in the panic of a crisis moment.
We are very happy to see them safely back in their nesting area.
