The Mike Douglas Show Season 10 Episode 148, aired April 7, 1971.
On this CBS-TV show, recorded in Philadelphia, Domino opens with "Blueberry Hill", backed by his eight-men band and then Mike interviewed him.
Fats is at ease and showes his comical side. They talk about his jewelry, kids, cars and clothes. Watch Fats' flamboyant scarlet red velvet suit! Fats ends with his first blockbuster "The Fat Man".
This is by far the longest interview on tape is far as I know and Fats is enjoying it.

During the performance of "The Fat Man" viewers will notice that the trumpet solo is done by Herbert Hardesty.
Herbert Hardesty was Fats' main saxplayer and is heard on mostly all of Fats' recordings.
1971 was a big (TV-)year for Fats: Mid-February Reprise Records released "Fats", nowadays a very rare record. It included the Broadmoor-sessions recorded in 1967. By 1971, Fats had left Reprise.
4 Days prior to this performance he was on the Dick Cavett Show on CBS.
On November 5, Fats guest on the Merv Griffin Show in Las Vegas.

It was also in that year that Fats mother died (on December 20).
Lew Chudd, Dave Bartholomew, hundreds of neighbours, friends and family were among the many people who attended her funeral.
