Ever wonder how Rage Against the Machine got started? It all began in 1991 when Zack de la Rocha left his hardcore band Inside Out and linked up with guitar innovator Tom Morello, fresh out of Lock Up. After drummer Jon Knox introduced bassist Tim Commerford to Zack and Tom, Tim brought in Brad Wilk who had once failed an audition for Lock Up and the iconic lineup was complete. Their DIY demo cassette featured 12 raw tracks that built an underground following and set the tone for their explosive debut album released in 1992. Rage fused hip-hop, metal, and politics in a way that reshaped the music world and lit a fire under a generation.
