After experimenting a bit, seems like its reliable when you look up, then use Down button to let go of the pipe after the left hand crosses your cursor for the 2nd time. It's not useful anywhere (the glitch) but i think it looks cool, plus if someone managed to do it 100% of the time, could be used in speedruns as whenever a pipe is sticking out of the wall, you can boost yourself in the direction of the pole
