The White House has said a man wrongly deported to El Salvador due to an "administrative error" will never return to the US.The case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia has caused global consternation over claims he was wrongly forced from the US after being accused of being a gang member.
The White House defended the move - and then hosted the mother of a woman who was raped and murdered by an illegal migrant from El Salvador to support its case.
That has triggered accusations the Trump administration was using a young woman's death to justify a deportation that had not been subject to due process.
