You don’t need fancy gear to pour a neat front porch—just a few tools and some time. Begin by laying down a firm layer of crushed stone. That’s what keeps the concrete stable for years. Getting it level now saves you work later. Use a hand screed to even it out—it doesn’t need to be perfect, just flat and steady. Give the form boards a few taps to release trapped air and tighten up the sides. Then glide a bull float across the top to bring up the surface cream and smooth it out. Finish with a firm broom pass—it adds traction and helps future pavers grip. Even this little dog seems impressed.
