In the sequel to Ben Stiller’s 2001 comedy, Cumberbatch played a non-binary fashion model named All.
When the film was released, LGBTQ+ activists called for a boycott of the film, with one online petition arguing that “Cumberbatch’s character is clearly portrayed as an over-the-top, cartoonish mockery of androgyne/trans/non-binary individuals”.
