In my opinion it is very important to stay flexible when metal fabricating. This tire carrier is a great example of how plans change along the way and if you can stay flexible you can continue to move forward in your project! Tire carriers of this type have many moving puzzle pieces that need to fit together tightly. We have multiple hinges, latches and mounting locations in this project. These pieces all need to mesh together and ensuring proper fitment every step of the way is paramount.
My recommendation to any beginner looking at attempting a metal fabrication project like this is to take your time and work through these challenges patiently. If you compartmentalize each piece then a project of this size is much less intimidating just time consuming.
With right tools, attitude and planning you can do projects like this. Until then enjoy the videos! I have many more overlanding specific DIY projects on the way and I look forward to sharing the next video with you guys!
