Here are 3 menu red flags to watch out for. 

1. The Menu is Huge
If you need a half hour to even read through all the different dishes on a menu, run. 

You're going to end up getting a meal that's lackluster at best. 

2. Gourmet "Fresh" Seafood
This one should be common sense, but if you're in an area where the coast isn't accessible, the seafood isn't going to be freshly caught. 

You'll end up spending way too much money on a disappointing meal. 

3. Random Weekend Specials
If a place has different specials every weekend, the chances are that they're trying to use ingredients they couldn't sell during the week. 

I'm against food waste, but restaurants have got to start being honest about these specials and let customers know the real reasoning behind them.
