A hip merch line for drummers!

About The Series
"Painting With Percussion" is an experimental solo series that revolves around using drums and percussion to explore and sonically interpret paintings, photos, film clips, sculptures, dances, and any other form of visual art. It's a fun and interesting way to collaborate with artists and really stretch out on the instrument. It's also an excellent opportunity to laugh at some of the most ridiculous cases of drummer face that the world has ever seen. lol

About Today's Episode
Today's episode is an interpretation of Rico Tomaso's 1969 oil painting, "Bullfighter III". The reason I chose to interpret this piece is because I grew up with a copy of it hanging on the walls of my home. My father, Bob McAuley, actually painted the copy as an assignment in art school back in the early 70's. In fact, the images in this episode are of my dad's copy because I couldn't find a good picture of the original to use.

About This Interpretation
For this particular interpretation, I'm playing off of the theme of a matador and a charging bull. Each "charge" of the bull begins with a snare roll and is followed by a lick or phrase of various length. Meanwhile, the repeating tom lick at the end of each "charge" represents the matador effortlessly side stepping the bull. As always, I hope you dig it and choose to come along with me on my journey!
