On behalf of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute, welcome to the National Championship of the Ronald Reagan Great Communicator Debate Series! This competition is designed to develop proactive, informed, educated, and conscientious citizens and leaders through a unique high school debate tournament. In addition, we aim to engage and inform young people whose first opportunity to participate as voters will take place in the upcoming elections and beyond.

The National Championship itself promotes civic engagement, highlight the legacy of President Reagan as both “The Great Communicator” and a legendary presidential debater, and spotlight several of the nation’s most promising high school communicators. Engaging in civil discourse around the principles of government
is a hallmark of American democracy, and the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library has frequently served as a venue for civic and political leaders to examine pressing national and world issues since its inception.

Our National Championship Round is between;

John Michael Magloire is a rising senior at Chaminade High School in Mineola, New York. Outside of the debate world, he enjoys listening to 60s and 70s rock music. In college, he intends to pursue a degree in Economics and History.

Shriyash Upadhyay is a rising senior at Montgomery Blair High School in Maryland. This summer, he will be conducting medical research at the National Institutes of Health. He will be applying to colleges to further pursue his passion for medicine, with focuses in Computer Science and Public Policy
