Allison Brashear, MD, tells the story of how she and others first identified in 1991 a rare disease known as rapid onset dystonia Parkinsonism and related disorders, that have a sudden onset and which can cause severe and permanent symptoms. She discusses the NIH-funded study she is currently recruiting patients for, the goal of which is to eventually develop an effective treatment.
