Blues Current is an album by John Murtaugh, released in 1970, blending jazz-funk and soul jazz with elements of "Moogsploitation" (experimental use of the Moog synthesizer). The project is unique in that it showcases the early use of the Moog synthesizer in a blues context, making it more of a historical artifact than an artistic statement.
Musicians featured include the legendary pianist Herbie Hancock (!!), bassist Gerry Jemmott, and drummer Bernard Purdie.
Released on vinyl by Polydor, the album was never reissued.
