The Labour Party is at the centre of a major controversy following the Supreme Court’s ruling, which nullified the Court of Appeal’s judgment recognising Julius Abure as the National Chairman. In its unanimous decision, the Apex Court stated that the appellate court lacked the jurisdiction to rule on internal party leadership matters, deeming these to be beyond the courts' authority. However, the court also noted that Abure’s term as Chairman had expired.
Abure’s camp welcomed the ruling, arguing it confirms that political matters should remain internal party affairs. However, they assert that the judgment does not remove Abure from his position as National Chairman.
