Palestinian, Lebanese and British Kamar is a DJ, record collector and musical archivist focusing on dance music of the global diaspora. A reflection of Kamar’s diverse heritage and the feeling that many places have felt like home, his selections range from Breakbeat to Bossanova, Deep House to Jazz Funk, Afro-Cuban Boogie to Arabic Disco and beyond. Kamar is also the Co-founder of farcorners, a collaboration between himself and Daniele Mizar dedicated to unearthing music from farcorners of the world and evidencing the commonality between us all through culture and art.

"The tracks selected for this mix are all uniquely grounded in their own sociopolitical contexts across Africa and the Caribbean, representing a diversity of eras, countries and cultures fighting oppression or channelling hope. Many of the tracks equally portray a strong feeling of political solidarity between different nations facing upheaval and distress - a principle we can't afford to leave behind. Sadly, despite many of these songs being 40-50 years old, the lyrics heard are as relevant today as when they were released. I hope that in some small way this music feeds a fire in your heart to always resist oppression, stand up for those that are suffering, and not lose hope."
