What would happen after a supervolcano starts to erupt? How would it unfold? And what would happen to the land around the supervolcanic eruption. How far would it spread, and how exactly would the ecosystem and the life that inhabits the surrounding area be affected? What fate would they all largely succumb to? Would it be the volcanic bombs and blocks catapulted forth en masse? Or would it be as a result of the deadly pyroclastic flows that continually flow everywhere without stop, as both the ash cloud, and the explosions themselves, contribute to vast waves of pyroclastic surges. Which flow all over the surrounding land, scorching, sterilizing and burning everything.
But what if you were many kilometers away from the super volcano that is currently erupting? Surely you'd be safe... right? Nope. It's gonna get you. If you can see it on the horizon, it won't be long until it comes and says hello to you too. But how? What would happen to you? And when? How long do supervolcanoes erupt for? And when would this supervolcanic event reach its climax?
This video will simulate this from a largely first person point of view. From the rumbles the volcano made with the many earthquakes and tremors it unleashed in the months and years before the major eruption, to the beginnings of the first bang that started the event off. All the way to the major caldera collapse that would eventually occur.
This simulation is modelled after the Lake Toba Supervolcanic eruption that occurred 70,000 years ago. Some simulations that I do not include in this video, are the effect a supervolcano would have if it erupted in a shallow ocean, and how large the tsunami wave would be as a result of this, and I also don't feature lahars, which are created as a result of a magma / ice interaction. As a result, this supervolcanic eruption is strictly magmatic in its family origin.
